Seaman to spend two years in jail for stealing

Tema, Feb 01, GNA - Korletey Sogbordor, a seaman at Tema, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment in hard labour by a Tema Circuit Court 'B' for stealing items worth three million cedis.

He pleaded guilty to all counts of unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage and stealing and was convicted on his own plea.

Chief Inspector Ben Agbedanu, prosecuting, told the court that Sogbordor went to the house of Ms Kafui Aku Gunu, the complainant, at Sakumono on January 26 in her absence and forced open the door with a screw driver.

Sogbordor took away a microwave oven, processing Computer Unit machine to the tune of three million cedis and put it in a taxicab. Some residents at Sakumono were suspicious of the accused person's movements stopped the taxicab and enquired from him where he got the items.

Not convinced about his answers the people sent him to the Sakumono Police Station where he confessed stealing them and pleaded for forgiveness.
