The Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur has cut a sword to officially open an Information Communication Technological (ICT) building at Lower Bobikuma within the Agona West Municipality.
The project was in fulfillment of a promise made by the Vice President, Mr. Bekoe Amissah Arthur when he responded to the call of the Chief of Lower Bobikuma to partake in their festival.
She said, the Chief of Lower Bobikuma Nana Kofi Yeboah VIII, told the Mr. Amissah Arthur during the 2012 campaign tour that they need an ICT centre to help the children to be abreast with the current trends of education and for that reason she stand at the very same venue to declare that that promise has been delivered.
Mrs. Amissah Arthur entreated the authorities to make sure that the building and it content is managed very well.
She further entreated the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Oppong to assist in taking good care of the ICT Centre as well as the machines and the Library books.
She also told the authorities not to keep the books but they should release for the schoolchildren to benefit from them. Mrs. Amissah Arthur stressed that the students of Lower Bobikuma do not write a separate examination form that which the students of Accra writes and for that reason, the children should learn very hard to also become important people in future.
The Central Minister, Hon. Samuel sarpong stated that the ICT Centre in the Lower Bobikuma is a plus in development of the Country.
He said the world has gone technological and because of that there is no need in further delay to catch up with the way new things are done.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Oppong said the cost of the project was 120,000 Ghana Cedis. He then assured Mrs. Amissah Arthur that the Neighborhood Watch committee which inaugurated in November last year would be the security to take charge of its protection.
The Chief of Lower Bobikuma, Nana Kofi Yeboah VIII who was the chairman for the occasion said that ICT Centre is a dream come but just like Oliver Twist, he again channeled some of their challenges through Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur.
Ha said, they would need a Community Centre where most major activities would be held. He requested for teachers quarters to enable the teachers to stay in the town to help facilitate learning.
Nana Kofi Yeboah VIII called for the extension of electricity since the community is expanding. He also called on the government to bring them portable drinking water for the community since they only rely on the very few owned by three people in the community.
Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur gave the ten new computers as well as the set of Library books to be used in the building.
