Second Lady supports two orphanages in Tamale

Tamale, Dec. 20, 96 Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, Wife of the Vice President, on Monday presented assorted items to two orphanage homes in the Tamale Metropolis.

Authorities of the two homes, Tamale Children's Home and Anfaani Children's Home, received the items which included bales of used clothing= , mosquito nets, feeding bottles and bags of rice. The others include oil, sugar, detergents, candies, wrist bands, caned drinks, toffees, Milo drink and spaghetti.

Mr Moses Bukari Mabengba, the Northern Regional Minister made the presentation on behalf of the Second Lady. The managers of the homes commended Mrs. Mahama for her support over the last one year, which they said had contributed greatly to improve the lives of the children.

Mrs. Augustine Quanor, the Care Taker of the Tamale Children's Home, said some people were encroaching on their land and called on authorities t= o support the home by helping them fence their land. She also appealed for a place of convenience adding that residents in the area defecated and dumping garbage on their compound and expressed the fear that it could results in an outbreak of disease in the home. Mrs Quanor also complained of frequent invasion of cattle on the orphanage's lands and destroying their vegetables.
