Security Agencies endorses acting IGP Kudalor

Scores of security institution, corporate bodies, religious groupings and civil society organisations has endorsed the appointment of Mr John Kudalor as acting Inspector General of Police by President John Dramani Mahama.

Vice Admiral Matthew Quashie, Chief of the Defence Staff, Ghana Armed Forces in a letter affirmed the ability of Mr Kudalor to inject new enthusiasm to chart a new course for the Ghana Police Service.

The Chief of the Defence Staff noted that the appointment of the acting IGP will also provide a platform for increased cooperation and collaboration between the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces.

“It is my wish that with divine guidance, you will continue to sustain and improve upon the professional development initiative by your predecessor and place the Ghana Police Service on a pedestal comparable to some of the best on the globe.

“I cease this opportunity to express my admiration for your impressive career record,” Vice Admiral Quashie stated in a letter to the acting IGP obtained by the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

The Department of Defence Intelligence, Ghana Armed Forces General Headquarters, described the appointment as recognition of Mr Kudalor’s invaluable service, dedication to duty and hard work.

“I pray too that the Good Lord will continue to guide, bless and continue to give you the strength of character to go beyond expectation in order to achieve the best for yourself and the Ghana Police Service.

“Please extend my congratulations to your family for the support and encouragement they continue to give you throughout your career,” Brigadier General William Azure Ayamdo, of Armed Forces Defence Intelligence stated in a letter.

The Narcotics Control Board in an endorsement letter signed by Mr Yaw Akrasi-Sarpong, the Executive Secretary and obtained by GNA noted that “NACOB looks forward to an era which will further deepen the already strong partnership between the Ghana Police Service in drug law enforcement.

“The Executive Secretary, Management and Staff of NACOB congratulates you, Mr Kudalor for your elevation and appointment to the High Office”.

On his part, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, of Action Chapel International in a congratulatory letter noted: “I thank God for your elevation to this high office and pray that God will grant you grace and wisdom to serve in this strategic capacity.

“I believe your being in this office will yield immense benefits to this nation and to the Kingdom of God at large. May the hand of your God be lifted over you, May the lord give you divine instincts, guide, guard and bless you and everything that concerns you”.

Other institutions and bodies who have endorsed Mr Kudalor’s elevation includes; the Salt and Light Ministries; Ghana National Union of Polytechnic Students; Office of the Chief of Moshie; Tema Development Corporation; and the Yim Awere Stool of Toase, in the Ashanti Region.

The rest are National Association of Retired Police Officers who reaffirmed support and willingness to collaborate with Mr Kudalor’s Administration to see more improvement in the relationship between retired Police Officers and officers in active service.

President Mahama last month appointed Commissioner of Police, Mr Kudalor as acting Inspector General of Police.

The President, as per the Constitution, appoints the IGP in consultation with the Vice President who chairs the Police Council.

COP Kudalor has been with the Ghana Police Service for over 20 years and has been the Director General of Police Operations for the past three years.
