Security Agencies in Kwahu North commended

Donkorkrom, (E/R), June 4, GNA- Mr Solomon Fordjour, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kwahu North, has commended Security Agencies in the area for their commitment, dedication, vigilance and professionalism in combating crime in the district.

He said they had been able to contain the menace of armed robberies and other criminal activities, which hit other parts of the district with only 48 men.

Speaking at the District's People's Assembly at Donkorkrom on Tuesday, Mr Fordjour urged the people to help the police in the discharge of their duties by giving them information about suspected criminals operating within the district. He said under the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), 110 groups of 50 members each had been processed to benefit from credits ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 dollars within this year for agriculture, in line with government priorities and objectives of increasing national food production.

He said a number of development projects had been undertaken in the district, to improve the standard of living of the people, ranging from education, health, and sanitation and road construction. Other projects included the rehabilitation of a Science Centre at Donkrkrom Agriculture Senior High School, the purchase of electricity poles for the rural electrification project, construction of a three-storey administration block at Donkorkrom, which is at 98 percent complete, and a community centre, among other projects. On the School Feeding Programme and the Capitation Grant, the DCE said the two programmes were being fully implemented in the district. He said a total amount of GH¢831,329,959 had been received in support of the capitation grant for the 2006/2007 academic year. On the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, Mr Fordjour said as at May this year, the total membership stood at 74,722, representing 54 percent of the district population.

He said GH¢128,440.96 was generated internally for the scheme, while the government through the National Health Insurance Authority had released GH¢171, 433.26 in support of those exempted from paying by the scheme. 04 June 08
