Security guards steal phone tablets

Three employees of the University of Education, Winneba’s (UEW)Security Services (Guards), appeared before the Ajumako District Magistrate Court charged with stealing 26 mobile phone tablets valued at GH¢15,600.00 belonging to the Ajumako Campus of UEW.

They all pleaded guilty to charges of stealing and abetment of crime. Facts as presented by prosecutor Chief Inspector Daniel Tawiah, that about five months ago an Audit report revealed that 26 Mobile phone tablets were missing from the campus stores.

An investigation committee set-up by the college managed found one of the missing items with a resident who mentioned Samuel Nana Appiah a.k.a. Ankoma 25 years, a guard as the one he received the item from.

Appiah admitted the accusation and mentioned Ebenezer Inkoom 24, and Eric Osei Acheampong 26, as accomplices.

The court presided over by Judge Mr Alfred Rockson sentenced Samuel Nana Appiah to 24 month imprisonment in hard labour and also to pay or refund the missing items, while Inkoom and Osei Acheampong were fined 40 penalty unit amounting to GH¢480.00. The two are to sign a bond to be of good behaviour, in default 3 months jail in hard labour.
