Security man shoots 40-year-old miner to death

A 45-year-old security man who shot and killed a 40-year-old miner at Akrokerri near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region has been arrested.

Suspected Kwame Kodua turned himself in at the police station on Monday, November 25, 2024, after committing the act in the early hours of the previous day.

MyNewsGh.com’s Ashanti Regional Correspondent indicated that the incident occurred at Quartz Machine Shop at Akrokerri.

It is gathered that the deceased, Robert Mensah, alias Young Money, was shot at close range by the suspect over what is yet to be made public.

Relations of the deceased rushed to the scene after news got to them about the incident to be greeted by his lifeless body with two (2) mini fertiliser sacks containing quartz, suspected to be gold-bearing materials beside him.

Sources indicate that the body revealed multiple gunshot wounds on the right side of his waist.

The body has since been conveyed and deposited at Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The suspect is also in custody, assisting the police with their investigations.
