Accra, March 1, GNA - Joe Amon Kotey, the alleged

National Security Operative who duped several people of

millions of Ghana cedis under the pretext of supplying them

with cars from the Confiscated Assets Committee, on Tuesday

promised to refund the monies back to the owners by March

29, 2011. He told the Circuit Court hearing the case that he is prepared

to pay back to the complaints all the monies he collected from

them by the agreed date. Even though some of the complainants at the Court

welcomed the accused's statement, they promised to use every

means to recover all their monies. "All that we are interested in is to get ours monies back" the

complainants charged. Amon Kotey has been charged for defrauding about 30

people by false pretences. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in

the sum of GH¢32,000 with two sureties to be justified. The

case has been adjourned to March 29, 2011. The facts as told by Police Inspector Michael Dubiok, the

Prosecutor are that one of the complainants is a businessman

and a friend to the accused. He said sometime in September 2010, the complainant

approached the accused with the intention to buy a vehicle and

the accused promised to assist in acquiring one. The prosecution said on September 13, the accused

delegated one Sedor who is known to the complainant to select

a vehicle of the complainant's choice at the Jubilee Warehouse

at Tema. Inspector Dubiok said the following day the complainant

paid GH¢10,000 cash and was promised of delivery within 21

days but the vehicle was never delivered. He said all efforts made by the complainant for the accused

to refund his money proved futile and therefore he reported the

case to the police.
