Security services mark Remembrance Day

A 90-minute solemn ceremony to mark the 58th anniversary celebration of the remembrance day service in memory of the founding fathers who died in the First and Second World war, was held at legion, in Tamale, in the Northern Regional Capital, On parade at the service were seven officers and One Hundred and seventy six men and women who were contingents drawn from 6 Infantry Battalion, Air Born force, The Police, Prisons, Air force and the Ex-Service men who were all ushered to the parade by traditional horn blower.




The Northern Regional Minister, Honourable Bede Ziedeng, laid the first wreath out of the Four on behalf of government and the people of Ghana, The 6 garrison commander, Air Commodore, Philip Ayisah, laid on behalf of Ghana Armed Forces, whiles WO1 Imoro Rtd, also laid on behalf of ex-Service men and women and the last but not the least was the Gukpena, Alhassan Abubukari, who also laid on behalf of the chiefs and the Traditional Rulers in the Region.





Hon Bede Zieded, later took the opportunity for the rare occasion and addressed Ex- Service men and their spouses, about the government of John Dramani Mahamas, commitments to alleviate the plights of the Ex- Service folks, who have sacrificed for Mother Ghana during the first and Second World War.



He disclosed that the Veterans Association has now been christen as the Veterans Administration, which is to ensure that their needs are well catered for. Saying that under the new arrangements when the Ex-Service men dies their wives are entitle to continue taken their benefits till their demise.


Hon Bede ziedeng assured them of his Office preparedness to listen to their concerns in order to address them.





He further commended them for their course in protecting the idles of the country and also prayed for the departed souls who laid down their lives for the country.



In an interview to a veteran solder, sgt Allhassan Moro, at the fuction about their expectations from government, He was quick to lament that their pensions is nothing to meet their demands given the current cost of utilities, for that matter if government could look for any source of employment after retirement to cushioned their living conditions.
