The exercise is being undertaken by the ECG and GRIDCo
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) have announced a series of planned and emergency maintenance works scheduled for Wednesday, October 8, 2025. These operations will affect power supply across several regions in the country.
According to the two agencies, the maintenance exercises are aimed at improving power reliability and operational efficiency. However, they will result in temporary outages in affected areas.
In the Volta Region, GRIDCo will carry out maintenance at the Sogakope Bulk Supply Point between 10 AM and 12 noon.
Areas expected to be affected include Sogakope, Akatsi, Adidome, Comboni, Agorkpo, Adutor, Dabala, Abor, Mafi Avedo, Torve, Yorkutikpo, Kpenu, Agorta, the Naval Training School, Woe, Anloga, Agordome, Savietula, Cescineros, Dzita, and surrounding communities.
In the Central Region, ECG will undertake planned maintenance from 9 AM to 4 PM. Power will be interrupted in Krispo City, Prisons, Budumburam, Apra, Loye, Kaemebre, Colomba Road, Market, Akweley, Adom Estate, Ofaanko, Jei-River, Papaase, Jei-Krodua, Bawjiase, and nearby areas.
In Greater Accra, ECG will conduct maintenance works from 9 AM to 5 PM. Affected areas include Ashaley Botwe Aviation down, Adenta, Sasabi Township, Mensah Bar, Bawaleshie, Oyibi, Malejor, Lands Commission, American Embassy, Cantonments, Darkuman, Obodan, Abetima, and surrounding communities.
Emergency maintenance will also take place in Greater Accra, affecting the Osu Night Market and nearby areas between 9 AM and 3 PM.
In the Tema Region, ECG will carry out maintenance between 9 AM and 4 PM. Power supply will be interrupted in Irrigation, Central University, Miotso, Emefs Estates, Celebrity Golf Club, Sakumono Village and Estates, and surrounding communities.
The Ashanti Region will also experience scheduled maintenance from 9 AM to 5 PM. Areas affected include Chirano, Nambro, Subri, Anwiaso, Akyease, Kwamekrom, Bibiani, Mensin Gold Mining Company, Tanodumase, KD Sreso, Nyinahin, Kuffour Camp, Bayerebon, Nagole, Ntobroso, Adobewura, Akorabokrom, Agogoso, Anwifutu, Kotokuom, Anyinamso 1 and 2, and nearby locations.
Additionally, emergency maintenance in the Ashanti Region will affect Tutuka, Wawase, Akrofuom, Okyerekrom, Obuasi Zongo, Nhiaso, Central Market, Stadium, Kunka, Kwapia, Adansi, Asokwa, and Fumso from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Both ECG and GRIDCo have expressed regret over the inconvenience and assured the public that these maintenance activities are necessary to enhance power stability and improve service delivery nationwide.
