The load shedding exercise embarked upon last year by the Volta River Authority is set to worsen from now to sunday june 3rd.

One out of the five turbines working at the Aboadze Thermal Plant has collapsed. The collapse turbine has the capacity to produce about one hundred and ten megawatts of power.

The new development means, the country is set to lose about ten to fifteen hours of power till the situation is normalized.

The current load shedding gives electricity consumers 12 hours off after 24 hours of electricity.

A statement issued by the VRA and ECG says, electricity consumers should expert more black outs until the situation is rectified.

Meanwhile an energy expert and NDC MP for South Dayi, Dr Kwame Ampofo, says he is hopeful the VRA will repair the broken down turbine to save the country from further problems.

According to him,he has been informed that, the VRA has received some parts from the broken turbine abroad today and should be working at Aboadze as soon as possible.

He also said, the NPP government has not done much to resolve the energy crisis. He cited the President's assurance of resolving the energy crisis in a months time when he delivered the state of the nation address in february,as a clear sign of incompetence.

Dr Ampofo called on the government to seek expert advise on the energy crisis to save industries from collapse.
