Sefwi Wiawso residents clash with Police over suspected 'ritual' killings

Irate residents in Enyiyebrim, a farming community in Sefwi Wiawso in the Western region have clashed with Police following a spate of suspected ritual killings in the area.

Four people including a child have been murdered in the town in the last few days in what residents say are ritual murders.

According to some of the residents, a madman was killed and dumped in the bush.

Few days later a security man was also clubbed to death with no trace of his murderers.

The latest incident is a little girl who was murdered on her way home after she had gone to fetch water. According to the residents, some of the girl’s body parts were missing when her remains was found.

The residents who accuse the Police of failing to act on the matter pelted them with stones when they arrived to retrieve the remains of the little girl.

A Police officer was also injured in the clashes and is currently receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, the residents have managed to arrest two suspects who are currently in Police custody.
