The leadership of defunct Delta Force in the Ashanti Region has vehemently denied allegations that Siedu Yakubu, one of the arrested kidnappers in the Canadian abduction is a member of the NPP.
The leadership of the group explained that Seidu was a Mahama boy.
Below is the statement of the press conference as sent in by Kingdom FM’s Ashanti Regional Correspondent, Antwi Boasiako.
This is the full speech delivered at the press conference today.
Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen of the Media. Let me, first of all, thank you for your swift response to our invitation even at such short notice. On behalf of my colleagues, I congratulate the State Security for this wonderful job done and we pray the same efforts would be extended in the ongoing search of the three Takoradi girls.
We are convinced that your prompt response to our invitation shows how worried most of you are about news being circulated by the NDC to the effect that Seidu Yakubu, one of the kidnappers is a member of the Delta Force. First of all, there is no Delta Force as it has been disbanded.
Certainly, this is never true, but a cheap way for the NDC to find an escape route in the face of kidnapping of the two Canadian girls as a result of the plot hatched by their national chairman-Ofosu Ampofo- in that leaked tape of his.
Clearly, this information being bandied out there in the media space is a palpable falsehood by people who are hurt that the NPP government, through the state security has in record time, rescued these foreigners.
The image and reputation of Ghana on the International level got smashes by the kidnapping of these teenage Canadian girls and as such we as patriotic citizens of this great country were following with keen interest on how our state can redeem its image.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, all of us are aware and also witnesses to the infamous tape recordings of NDC National Chairman, Elder Ofosu Ampofo and how he, together with his party and Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama intend to destabilize the peace of this country through politically motivated kidnapping, setting our markets on fire and creating insecurity among Ghanaians.
This is a tangible fact the NDC can’t deny. Therefore, while the good people of Ghana are pointing accusing fingers at them for the kidnapping, the NDC are trying to tag Seidu Yakubu, one of the arrested alleged kidnappers, as a member of Delta Force and for that matter an NPP. This is a clear diversionary tactic by the opposition party and its apologists to escape public humiliation and attacks.
We the members of the then Delta Force, which is now no more wish to state emphatically that there was no moment that Seidu became or was a member of the Delta Force or NPP. What we know is that, Seidu was the one who was always organising and leading machomen to escort Ibrahim Mahama, brother of Former President Mahama, anytime he visited Ashanti region.
During the court case which involved Ibrahim Mahama and Chairman Wontumi, this was the same guy who was leading the Machomen for Ibrahim Mahama to the court premises while we were also giving protection to our chairman, and it is quite surprising to us how such a person who does not share in our ideologies be linked to us.
Again, for those in the NDC, Seidu remains one of their lead private security guys and loyal to the Mahamas. Therefore, it is quite baffling how the NDC want to turn the narrative and disown their “Star boy” Seidu MBA at the time he really needs them most.
For your information, Seidu Yakubu Mba is a pure NDC and was a polling station officer in 2016 election at New Tarfo.
Ladies and Gentlemen, if there is anything left to do, then the NDC, led by its flagbearer and National Chairman, President Mahama and Ofosu Ampofo, must not deny having strong ties with the man who before his kidnapping involvement was their darling.
Delta force, before it was disbanded was law abiding. We were for peace and the protection of national pride and properties. And we will not condone any act which is counterproductive to our course.
Members of the media, if Ghana can be safe, it behoves on all of is to jealously guard our national pride and this is what Delta Force stood for and we still stand for that despite the force being defunct.
Ghana is in safe hands in the person of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP. Let us not let the NDC continue throwing dust in our eyes. Let’s not buy into their cheap propaganda and lies.
