The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), on November 20, 2024, seized a 40-foot container at Tema Port, numbered MEDU4496951, which was shipped from the United States.
The shipment, falsely declared as containing vehicles and personal effects, was intercepted on November 4, 2024, following thorough investigations by the GRA’s Intelligence and Preventive Units.
Commissioner of Customs, Brigadier General Zibrim Ayorrogo, confirmed the development, stating that arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full details of the shipment and its intended recipients.
Reacting to the latest development, Ghanaian netizens have called for a thorough investigation into the individuals responsible for the ammunition.

Am I the only one who believes certain things should be kept away from the general Public. The guns seized at tema port should have been kept from the general Public. Whoever is behind this should be arrested because I believe every cargo has importer info.

Tema Port, a major import and export hub, has become a breeding ground for politicians, with employees serving as informants. This has negatively impacted employee attitudes, leading to less recognition of staff and fuels the promotion of politically affiliated employees.

I'm deeply troubled by the news of weapons seized at the Tema Port. It's a stark reminder of the broader issues we face, where foreign entities, particularly some Chinese companies, exploit our resources and people without genuine concern for our well-being.

An institution of govt has seized a container with weapons at the Tema Port. Good news right? But isn’t this vague or for security reasons, the owner of the container is not disclosed? We must know who imported these? We don’t want this case to die like others #JoySMS @Joy997FM https://t.co/Dl5pVaj43v
