Sekondi MP, Auburn University organises health screening for constituents

Quality Healthcare delivery has been one of the focus areas for Honorable Member Of Parliament for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, during his first term in office. He demonstrated a commitment to this cause by once gain collaborating with Auburn University, USA and Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly to organize a free health screening exercise for the people of Sekondi Constituency.

This is the third annual free health screening exercise performed in Sekondi by the Collaboration, since Honorable Mercer assumed office. This collaboration was made possible by the strong relationship between Hon. Andrew Mercer and the delegates from Auburn University, USA led by Dr Elizabeth Essamuah-Quansah, a proud daughter of Sekondi.

Residents from various suburbs in Sekondi including; Nkotompo, Kweikuma, Zongo, European town, Baka-ekyir and it environs benefited from this year's three-day health screening exercise.

This exercise has been instituted as an annual event and for its third year running saw more than two thousand residents from all the nine electoral areas in the constituency patronising the centre to be screened.

People who thronged the Sekondi Youth Centre were taken through thorough medical examinations which included blood pressure, ear & eye tests, diabetes among others tests. The beneficiaries were advised to prioritize good personal hygiene to ensure focus on preventative measures over curative ones.

Some beneficiaries were given free medication at the youth center whiles others with critical medical conditions were also referred to Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for further reviews.

The beneficiaries were very appreciative of the free but highly beneficial exercise and expressed their profound gratitude to the Hon. Andrew Mercer, Hon K K Sam and Dr Elizabeth Essamuah-Quansah for their continued commitment to helping the people of Sekondi maintain good health.
