Sena Anku Memorial Foundation (SENAMF), a Non-Governmental Organisational (NGO) is supporting three patients to undergo cancer treatment at the National Radiotherapy Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The three patients; Dan Owusu Tei, 2, Stephen Appiah 13 and Wonder Kudalo 13, received a total amount of GHc3,480 from the foundation for their treatment.
Madam Grace Amenyogbeli, Founder and Board Member of the foundation, which seeks to ensure the prevention, treatment and care of cancer patients in the country, said the donation was to ensure the early treatment of the patients to avoid further deterioration of their condition.
She said the three patients were chosen after making enquiries from the centre on the needs of patients and discovered that they needed urgent treatment hence the decision to support them to save their lives.
She was confident the three patients would go through the treatments successfully.
Mrs Naomi Ohene Oti, Principal Nursing Officer at the Centre, who received the donation, expressed appreciation to the foundation for their support, adding that, the donation would ease the financial burden on the three patients since the cost of treatment was expensive.
She said cancer is treatable if the necessary care and funding was available and advised Ghanaians to seek early treatment.
SENAMF was named after a 28 year promising banker who died through cancer.
The organization solicits technical and financial resources for the prevention, treatment and care of cancer patients and also advocates expedient consistent and committed care for cancer patients.
