Senior Minister urges Ghanaians to work hard

Lawra (UW), March 20, GNA - The Senior Minister, Mr. J.H. Mensah, on Saturday appealed to Ghanaians to work hard to ensure the success of the programmes and policies such as the National Health Insurance Scheme put in place by the government.

He said the laudable objectives of relief and progress that such programmes seek to achieve for the people could only be realised if all work hard to ensure their sustainability.

Mr. Mensah made this call when he addressed the final funeral rites for the late Naa Abeifa Karbo, the Paramount Chief of the Lawra Traditional area.

He died in December 2004 at the age of 86 and was a member of the Council of State.

Mr. Mensah, who led a government delegation to the first anniversary and final funeral rites for the late chief, made a customary donation of 10 million cedis to the bereaved family.

He called for peace and unity among the people in the Lawra Traditional Area and to work for the goals which the late chief Karbo stood for.

Pastor Charles Terle Karbo, regent of Lawra, on behalf of the Karbo family expressed their gratitude to the government for the high-powered delegation to the final funeral rites.

Other members of the delegation were Mr. C.K. Tedam and Alhaji Alhassan Bin Salih both members of the Council of State, Mr, Nii Ayikoi Otoo, Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

The rest were Mr. Ambrose Dery, Upper West Regional Minister, Madam Akosua Frema Opare, Deputy Minister, Manpower and Employment, Mr. J.B. Danquah, Deputy Minister, Women and Children's Affairs and Mr. Aggrey Ntim, Deputy Minister of communication. There were chiefs from the Upper East, Upper West and Brong Ahafo regions.
