Akufo-Addo’s Senseless,Reckless & Divisive Conduct!
As the Akyem/Ashanti rivalry in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) continues to unfold itself in many forms, former President John Agyekum Kofi Diawuo Kufuor, has certainly taken a very sensible decision to distance himself from the senseless “all die be die” war mongering and anti-Ghana agenda of “serial loser” Akufo-Addo and his reckless Akyem brigade who are doing everything possible to destroy the NPP ever since Akufo-Addo lost last year’s election.
Behaving like an elephant that has been struck in the head by a strange disease, Akufo-Addo and his followers have unwisely decided to boycott today’s swearing-in ceremony of President John Dramani Mahama but Kufuor has spat in the face of the reckless decision and is going to be present at the ceremony. Kufuor most certainly learnt a bitter lesson when he was misled by Akufo-Addo, certificate-less Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, comical Sir John and co to pass some silly comments about the Electoral Commission and its Commissioner in the wake of the last year’s election, and has taken a wise decision that would help him redeem his image. It would be recalled that Kufuor got a lot of flack when he recklessly said that the EC should be blamed if the nation went up in flames. Therefore, going against the senseless thinking of Akufo-Addo, certificate-less Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, comical Sir John and co, Kufuor will be present at today’s swearing-in of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama as the legitimate President of the Republic of Ghana.
Kufuor took a wise decision to fly above the pettiness and bigotry of Akufo-Addo and his reckless followers who were threatening to “kill” Kufuor if he attended the ceremony.
Former President Kufuor has called the bluff of Akufo-Addo’s wee-choked militants and Sammy Awuku’s “wormafunu” brigade, and is doing what every statesman should do.
Akufo-Addo is certainly misbehaving and fighting a gargantuan losing battle, and Kufuor is not prepared to mortgage his image and statesmanship on the altar of Akufo-Addo’s senseless conduct of wanting to become President “At all cost”. Said a political commentator, “if Kufuor had made a mistake and unwisely decided to follow the senseless edict of Akufo-Addo and Jake, some of us would have made sure that all his courtesies are withdrawn”.
“It would have been difficult for me to accept that the State would continue to take care of Kufuor if had abused his position as a Statesman and refused to be present at such a national event” the political commentator added.
Interestingly, it was Akufo-Addo who withdrew the courtesies of President Rawlings with the senseless explanation that Rawlings was not behaving like a statesman and so did not deserve to be treated like an Ex- President. “Who knows; after failing to impose himself on us as President, Akufo-Addo was hoping Kufuor would decide not to appear at the Swearing-in ceremony so that his courtesies would be withdrawn so that both of them would become “ordinary” citizens of Ghana” the political commentator said.
President John Dramani Mahama was declared winner of last year’s election by 50.70%, and will be sworn-in today together with his Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur for a four-year term to continue with the very solid and good work started by His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills.
