Serbia is seeking to naturalize Ghanaian defender Abraham Akwesi Frimpong, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively report.
Last year, authorities in the Eastern European country started working out to get the centre back a Serbian passport.
Frimpong, born in Sunyani, spent more than five years in the country before leaving Red Star Belgrade to join Hungarian side Ferencvaros.
The 25-year-old moved to Europe in 2011 and had stints with Vicenza and then move to Serbia the same year.
He first played for Vojvodina before signing for Napredak Krusevac where he played for four years.
