Serwa Ampem Aid Foundation gives to Mampong Babies Home

Mampong (Ash), Jan 31, GNA - Serwa Ampem Aid Foundation for Children (SAAFC), has donated a mini bus to the Anglican Diocese of Kumasi Mampong Babies Home at Mampong in Ashanti.

Lady Julia Osei Tutu, wife of Asantehene and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation in presenting the bus at a ceremony at Mampong on Friday said the NGO is committed to the welfare and proper upkeep of children. She said the Foundation resolved to donate the vehicle to the home to enhance its development and the well-being of the children following a request from management after her visit to the place two years ago.

The Rt Rev Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, the Anglican Bishop of Kumasi and Management Board Chairman of the Home expressed satisfaction for the gift and said the bus has come to replace the old vehicle of the Home which was difficult to mantain. He indicated that the Home established by the Church in 1967 caters for over 40 orphans who are supported by philanthropists, the Department of Social Welfare, the Anglican Church and other NGOs.

The Bishop, with the support of Rev Canon Francis Dwira, Acting Archdeacon of Mampong Archdeaconry; Rev Daniel Koranche, Parish Priest, St Michael and All Angles Anglican Church, Mampong and Rev Fr Paul Baffour-Awuah, Cathedral Administrator, Mampong performed the dedication ceremony and prayed for God's protection, guidance and safe use of the vehicle.

Madam Mabel Asafu-Adjaye, Superintendent of the Home who received the keys and documents of the car thanked Lady Julia for the gesture and pledged to ensure its proper maintenance. Nana Aboagyewaa Kente, Kronkohemaa of Mampong Traditional Area praised the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the royal family and the Anglican Church for their continued support towards the development of the Home.
