Former Minister of Finance Mr. Seth Terkper has said that John Dramani Mahama's current bid for the presidency is motivated by a commitment to finalize and advance the projects and policies left incomplete.
Mr. Terkper's remarks came after he toured the abandoned project in the
Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
He visited sites such as an abandoned market, a two-story health centre at Ablekuma Abease, and a public toilet, which were initiated under the previous NDC administration.
He was accompanied on this tour by Mr. Raphael Apetorgbor, the Constituency Deputy Communications Officer for NDC Anyaa Sowutuom and author of "For the Records," a book detailing developmental projects undertaken during the previous NDC government.
During his visit, Mr. Terkper promised that a Community-based Health and
Planning Services (CHPS) compound at Olebu and the Anyaa Bus terminal would be operationalized by the NDC government.
He criticized the current government's decision to abandon projects initiated
by the NDC, describing it as detrimental to national development.
At the launch of the book, Mr. Terkper praised Mr. Apetorgbor for his comprehensive account of the NDC’s achievements in the constituency, encouraging NDC members to use the book as a strategic asset in garnering support.
He stressed that the book serves as essential evidence to counter claims about inaccuracies in the NDC’s Green Book.
"We are presenting the community with the facts and evidence so that when misinformation about projects arises, they can respond and recognize the NDC's contributions," Mr. Terkper said.
He urged NDC communication executives across the nation to emulate Mr. Apetorgbor's efforts, "underscoring the significance of allowing the evidence to speak for us."
Mr. Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, who was also present at the launch, emphasized the need for truth and unity within the party.
He called on both party members and the wider Ghanaian public to support the NDC, assuring that all promises in the NDC’s manifesto would be fulfilled if the party is returned to power.
He commended Mr Apetorgbor for his courage and commitment to documenting the truth through his book.
Mr. Apetorgbor, explaining his motivation for writing "For the Records," expressed concern over the misinformation surrounding the NDC’s projects in Anyaa Sowutuom.
He feared that without factual counter-narratives, such misinformation could gain traction.
"This publication is more than just a collection of photographs and writings; it is a comprehensive record of our achievements," he stated.
Mr. Apetorgbor highlighted that the 30-page book presents evidence that contrasts sharply with claims made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), showcasing the significant contributions of the previous NDC government.
