Severe rainstorm destroys property at Mole National Park

Mole (N/R), May 8, GNA - A severe rainstorm hit the Mole National Park and nearby Larabanga village last Tuesday, destroying a number of houses, social amenities and property estimated at one billion cedis.

Facilities destroyed include workshops, stores and housing units at Yipala Camp, the armoury of the National Park and an electricity generating plant. The Mole Health Centre and the primary and junior secondary schools have been closed down because they lost their roofs and their structures were extensive damaged.

Scattered fragments of roofing sheets are found stacked in tree branches in the surroundings. Mr William Kwabena Addo, senior wildlife protection officer, led the West Gonja District Chief Executive, Mr Steve De-graft Safo,The MP for Damongo Daboya, Alhaji Abdallah Adam and journalists to inspect the extent of damage at the park.

Mr De-graft Safo promised to liaise with the National Disaster Management Organisation to bring relief to the affected.
