Shake up at GES

All retired officials of the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) who have been re-engaged on contract have had their contract revoked.

A statement signed by the Minister of Education, Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi in Accra on Wednesday said those affected include Directors of the GES and heads of institutions.

The statement also announced the transfer of eight regional and district directors with effect from November 15.

It said Mr J.M. Bagonluri, Regional Director of the Northern Region and Mr Chikpah Kweku Demuyakor, Upper West Region are to swap stations. Mr A.A. Dramanu, Regional Director of Ashanti region and Mr Andrew Kofi Britwum, Regional Director of the Western Region are also to swap stations.

The District Director of Ho, Ms Jane Aidam is to move to Hohoe District while Mr Moris Fie will move to Ho. The District Director of Sekyere East, Mrs Mavis Anim Addo and Mrs Doris Akoto, District Director of Ahafo Ano are to swap stations.

The statement said Mr J. Omari, Coordinator of the Best Teacher Award Scheme is to move to the Tema District Directorate. It said the Ministry is taking steps to reconstitute the Ghana Education Service Council whose tenure has expired.

It asked organisations and stakeholders that have representations on the council to submit the names of their representatives to the Secretary of the council by the end of October.
