The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buabeng Asamoah has mocked the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for demanding the publication of the report by the Emile Short Commission, set by the President to investigate the circumstances that led to the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence in January.

According to him, the party has no justification to ask for the report because it boycotted it as the onset and debarred its members not to appear before the commission.

Speaking with KT on Angel FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he laughed uncontrollably when the matter was mentioned and said the NDC is only bringing this up to find an excuse not to co-operate with the meeting with the peace council to set the ground rules for the disbandment of vigilante groups today.

He described the demand by the NDC as shameful and disrespectful to the people of Ghana and asked them to accord matters of national concern all the commitment it deserves, rather than picking and choosing when it suits them.

But the spokesperson for the NDC legal team, Lawyer Abraham Amaliba said his party has every right to demand the report because the commission was sponsored with tax payer’s money.

According to him, Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoah’s attitude only showed his lack of appreciation for Ghana’s democratic processes.
