Minister of Youth and Sports Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has revealed that government will pay the qualification bonuses of the beach soccer team after it booked a place to represent the country in this year’s AFCON beach soccer tournament to be held in Nigeria in December.
Mr Vanderpuye revealed this when the beach soccer team led by their president, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Accra on Thursday September 22.
“Thank you for sacrificing your time and comfort to qualify the country to this year’s beach soccer tournament,” Mr Vaderpuye said, adding: “… I have good news for you; we pay qualification bonuses to all our national teams who qualify to tournaments. In due course, we are conferring with the president and government and you will definitely hear from us,” he said.
The Ghana beach soccer team, the Black Sharks, qualified to the AFCON Championship after beating Morocco in both legs.
