Accra, May 16, GNA - Mr Louis B. H. Van Eijk, Managing Director of Shell, on Tuesday commended the Ghana Police Service for its professionalism in halting the series of robberies at filling stations.

He said the company has operated in Ghana for a long time and the Police have proved their professionalism by ensuring peace and order in the country's democratic transformation.

Mr Van Eijk who was speaking when he called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Peter Nanfuri, pledged the company's support for the police. He assured the IGP that the company would always abide by the rules and laws of the land to ensure peace.

Mr Nanfuri expressed his gratefulness to Mr Eijk for acknowledging the efforts of the police in spite of the limited resources at its disposal and for promoting peace. He called for the co-operation of firms and said the police would welcome help from private companies.

The IGP assured investors of a peaceful atmosphere to do business in the country. Last year, armed robbers attacked and robbed petrol filing stations, their owners and attendants.
