Shirley Ayorkor Botchway warns against fake Instagram accounts

Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway has distanced herself from a couple of fake accounts impersonating purported to be hers on Instagram.

In a press statement issued Wednesday, February 5, 2020, the ministry denied the said Instagram accounts being for the minister.

It further detailed how some unscrupulous persons even go as far as swindling people by using her name.

“Attention has been drawn to the existence of Instagram accounts bearing the name Shirley Ayorkor Botchway. These accounts are been used to dupe unsuspecting members of the public both in Ghana and abroad. For the avoidance of doubt, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway is not on any social Media platform and has no Instagram account,” the statement read.

The statement, therefore, warned the public against accepting friend requests from these accounts on all social media platforms and asked that people who fall prey to such scams should report to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for swift action to be taken.
