Shoemaker jailed for stealing sheep

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Birim South District has sentenced Kwadwo Adu, a shoemaker to three years imprisonment for stealing a sheep valued GH? 300.00.

Adu admitted stealing the sheep and Mr Emmanuel Brew, the presiding judge, sentenced him on his own plea.

Police Inspector Sabian Sallah said the complainant, Mallam Kassum Abubakari and Adu live at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region.

On April 3, Mallam Abubakari tied his sheep to grace at the local Morning Star School and travelled to Kumasi.

Inspector Sallah said the convict who was loitering around spotted the sheep and untied it.

He said a witness in the case who saw Adu escorting the sheep away, raised the alarm and by the help of people around he was apprehended.

Inspector Sallah said Mallam Abubakari was invited to the police station where he identified the sheep.
