Koforidua, June 25, GNA - The management of Eastern Regional Hospital at Koforidua has appealed to individuals, institutions, religious organizations and groups to donate blood to replenish the hospital's Blood Bank.

It said the hospital was running out of stock and when not replenished in time, could negatively affect health care delivery especially at the Labour Ward.

The appeal was made in a release issued and signed by Dr Obeng Apori, Director of the hospital at the weekend copied to the Ghana News Agency at Koforidua.

"Management of the hospital wish to appeal to individuals, institutions or organization desired to donate blood or support the hospital's blood donation campaign to contact officials of the blood bank for advice," it added. The release called on patients to demand receipts for all payments made for services rendered including embalmment of corpses at the mortuary.

The management informed the public that relatives would be allowed to visit the morgue once a week to check on their corpses. It pointed out that frequent visit to the morgue placed undue pressure on mortuary attendants and the refrigerator affecting its efficiency and quality of corpses. The release called on patients who have any reservations about their services at any department or unit to contact management for redress.
