Kumasi, April 28, GNA - The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has appealed to Ghanaians to show interest in
the on-going national identification registration exercise to help provide a more reliable data for development planning. He said all should appreciate the full scale of their responsibilities to co-operate with the National identification
Authority (NIA) to make the programme a success.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II said this after completing his registration at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Wednesday. Registration of people in the Kumasi metropolis would officially begin on Friday, April 30. The Asantehene encouraged the registration officers to be dedicated and work hard to ensure that all Ghanaians were
registered. He added that they should be patient and treat people with respect to avoid chaotic scenes at the registration centres. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II called on government to also make sure that there were funds to help the NIA to
undertake the assigned job. Dr William Ahadzie, Executive Secretary of the NIA, gave the assurance that enough registration officers and logistics
would be deployed to ensure successful coverage of the metropolis. He, therefore, called for patience and comportment to make the exercise peaceful. 28 April 10
