Sierra Leone parliamentary team visits Tema

Tema, Aug 03, GNA - Mr Justice Edmund Cowman, the leader of a Sierra Leone parliamentary delegation, on Tuesday expressed his country's preparedness to welcome genuine investors towards the promotion of the economy of the war battered country. He said Sierra Leone desired to progress speedily and expressed the hope that genuine and credible investors could contribute to its rapid growth.

Mr Cowman was leading a four-member parliamentary delegation on a visit to the Carl Tiedemann Stevedoring Ghana Limited, a private stevedoring company at Tema, to explore trade avenues between the company and his country. He said the delegation was en-route to Swaziland to attend a Commonwealth meeting and while in transit in the country decided to visit the stevedoring company following business interactions it had with its Managing Director, Mr Krobo Edusei (Jnr) in Sierra Leone.

The parliamentary leader expressed satisfaction with the operations of the Tema port and expressed the hope that Sierra Leone could "benefit from the expertise of the workers ".

Mr Edusei (Jnr) said his company was taking advantage of the Government's policy of Golden Age of Business, the success of privatisation of the port by the Ghana Ports/Harbour and Ghana being the gateway to the West African sub-region to embark on business exploration in the sub-region and East Africa. Other members of the delegation were Madam Mabel Turay, Mr Mohammed Turay, and Mr Ahmed Abu Kemkan.
