A dramatic episode unfolded at the campus of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in Kumasi last Saturday, October 1, when one of the Ghanaian up-coming hip-pop female artistes was assaulted.
The artiste, popularly known as Mzbel was on stage, singing one of her favourite songs, which goes, "I am 16 years..." to honour an invitation extended to her by the students of the College of Art at KNUST to perform live at their annual Week Celebration dubbed ?Fun-City".
Mzbel was stripped naked of her tiny performance attire, which eye-witnesses branded as very seductive, and suggestive and torn into pieces. Her nudity was in the process exposed to the public for ridicule and contempt. Eyewitnesses told Daily Guide that but for the timely intervention of the university's private security personnel at the scene, she would have been raped, or the worst would have happened to the hip-pop star. According to the reports, in the ensuing drama, while some of the members of the student-body who joined her to dance fondled her breasts, other peri vagina (pv) her. Mzbel sustained a fracture in her leg, during the unsuspected sexual raid on her. Confirming the incident in an interview, a host of a Kumasi-based radio station said that on Saturday October 1, students of the College of Art, at KNUST invited the singer to perform during their Annual Week programme, dubbed Fun-City.
According to him, when Mzbel took her turn to perform live on stage, between 11 and 12am thereabout, some of the students left their seats to join her on stage. Eyewitness noted that suddenly as if it were a premeditated plot, some of the students surrounded her and began to fondle her breasts and buttocks, while others later grabbed her by the hands. In the process, according to them, the students who were possibly sexually-aroused stripped the singer naked and pv'd her and allegedly performed lewd acts on her body. It took the university's private security several minutes to rescue Mzbel from the paws of the students who were obviously on carnal heat.
