After the acceptance of the verdict of the election petition by the first petitioner, the 2012 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, one would have thought that no leading member of the opposition party will express reservation with regards to the ruling.

But Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, the NPP’s General Secretary, who was recently called upon to quit his position after he was summoned by the Supreme Court for making contemptuous comments, has once again dropped a bomb shell.

Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie claims despite the court’s decision and his donning of an all-white apparel prior to the ruling, John Dramani Mahama does not see himself as the President of the Republic.

Wondering if the president and the ruling NDC party were privy to some information about the verdict which the rest of the country did not know, Sir John asserted that on the day of the verdict, the NDC was fully prepared for a victory parade.

“I am not sure John sees himself as President of this country in spite of the fact that he’s been congratulated by Nana Akufo-Addo. He knows best what went into all these. Indeed, it amazes me that he and his Vice-President and all the people around him wore white.

“if you pass by the NDC party Headquarters, they had their sound systems and everything ready to jubilate. What they knew that the rest of the country did not know, we leave it to John Mahama and the rest of the country to answer,” he said.
