Sekondi, July 24 -GNA-Six Liberian refugees were on Thursday remanded in custody by a Sekondi Magistrate's Court for stealing 13 bags of maize.
Their pleas were not taken and they would re-appear before the court on July 31.
They include Joseph John, 18, Nelvin Sanbullham 15, Wleh Jelleh, 17, Dennis Gray, 17, John Wahwesseh, 22 and Morris Wilson, 22. Nelvin was however, remanded in Police custody since there is no juvenile centre in the metropolis, while the remaining five were sent to prison custody.
Before remanding them, Mr. Eric Baah, who presided said although he sympahtised with the suspects, the law would have to take its course. He advised refugees in the country to learn to live and respect the laws of the country.
They were arrested on Wednesday following a tip-off by other refugees at the Essipong reception centre that the suspects were seen stealing the maize from the National Disaster Management Organisation's (NADMO) warehouse.
