Six arrested for selling unwholesome meat to chop bar operator

Tumi, Oct. 17, GNA- With the support of Kworo Gilbert Badzoe Kanton, Paramount Chief of Tumu Traditional Area, the Police at Tumu have arrested six people for allegedly selling unwholesome meat to a chop barkeeper.

The suspects allegedly went to the bush and exhumed the carcass of a cow that was buried by Veterinary and Environmental Health Officers and sold its meat to a chop barkeeper.

They are, Benard Luriwie, 40, Mama Elia, 45, Danladi Bayiko, 35, Sulley Balie, 51, Nabie Braimah 35 and Janet Dandan, 40, the chop bar keeper. The arrest was made possible when the chief and his elders refused to settle the case in his palace and transferred it to the police. According to Inspector Dorkpor, Upper West regional Police Public Relation Officer, the police retrieved part of the meat from the kitchen of the chop barkeeper and destroyed it.

The Upper West Regional police commended the Tumu Kworo and his elders for the vigilance, which led to the arrest of the suspects. It said their action was worthy of emulation by all traditional rulers and opinion leaders in the region. 17 Oct 03
