Six people including a trotro driver are in a critical condition after a tipper truck crashed into the Nissan Caravan bus(trotro) they were on board at Appolonia in the Greater Accra Region, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.
The victims are currently receiving treatment at Tema General Hospital and Dodowa District Hospital respectively.
The driver of the tipper truck with registration number GE 4272-17 is reported to have fled the scene sensing danger he could be lynched by angry residents.
An eyewitness who gave her name as Veronica told MyNewsGh.com that the Nissan Caravan (Trotro) with registration GT 7837 V was coming from Kantamansu and heading to Appolonia while the tipper truck which is loaded with latrite was from Appolonia and heading towards Kantamasu when the accident occurred.
According to her, the tipper truck which was over speeding veered off its lane to the lane of the trotro, explaining that the trotro driver upon seeing recklessness of the tipper truck driver made a detour into the bush in an attempt to escape crashing but the tipper truck followed and crashed into it.
She said the tipper truck driver quickly put off the ignition and took the key and sped off.
Veronica who described the conditions of the victims as critical some good Samaritans assisted in taking them to Tema General Hospital and Dodowa Hospital for medical attention.
The accident attracted scores of residents of Appolonia scene with some blaming the tipper truck driver.
