Six people die in a road accident at Topease

Asamankese, Jan. 01, GNA - Six people died, one on the spot and five others at the Saint Dominic's Hospital at Akwatia when a Nissan Urvan bus collided with a Hyundai truck at Topease on the Kade-Asamankese road on Christmas day.

The deceased identified are Daniel Abbey Quaye, 38, driver of the bus who died on the spot, his mate Kwame John and a woman Sera Amedzro died on admission at the hospital while the others are yet to be identified.

The corpses have been deposited at the hospital's morgue. Asamenkese District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police John K.Y. Yamba who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Asamankese said five of the injured were under intensive care at the hospital.

He said driver of the truck Eric Kwadwo, 29 was also on admission at the hospital.

DSP Yamba said six others who received injuries were sent to Asamankese Government Hospital, but two brothers, Frank Amoako and Richard Amoako were treated and discharged. He said five of the victims on board the truck who received injuries refused to be treated at the hospital because they were members of the First Centaury Faith Church at Ekoso whose members were forbidden to have medication when sick. DSP Yamba said they were travelling to the church's headquarters for a Christmas retreat when the accident occurred. He said the truck was travelling from Asamankese to Kade and the bus from Boadua to Asamankese.
