People of Amoma to provide block for a police station Amoma (B/A), April 1, GNA- The residents of Amoma in the Kintampo district of Brong-Ahafo Region have decided to construct a police station in the area at a cost of about 800 million cedis to help combat crime in the area.

Nana Amoateng Ameyaw II, chief of the area told Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Amoma on Monday that the community contains a large number of settler farmers of different ethnic groups from the Northern sector of the country. Nana Amoateng said as a result of the growing population, it was very important for the station to be opened at the place to check activities of the people and to protect lives and properties in the area. He said the people would hold a fund-raising rally during the Easter holidays to generate funds towards the commencement of the project.

Nana Amoateng said it was the intentions of the people to hopefully complete the project by the end of this year in order that they could apply to the police administration for the inauguration of the station.

The Mid-West Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church has planned to construct a Senior Secondary School (SSS) at Amoma to promote education of the growing youth in the area. Nana Amoateng appreciated the efforts of the Christian organization and gave the assurance that the people would also offer the needed communal labour to support the efforts of the church to enhance the development of the community.

He was also grateful to the Kintampo District Assembly for constructing three boreholes for the people to enable them to enjoy potable water and to promote their health as well. Nana Amoateng appealed to all non-resident citizens of Amoma to visit home during the Easter festivities to contribute towards the proposed police station project.
