Mr Mark Amoako-Dompreh, Nsawam/Adoagyiri Municipal Chief Executive, had commended Mr Emmanuel Kwafo Mintah, Executive Director of AMPA, a Non-Governmental Organization( NGO), for organizing periodic workshops within the Municipality, to provide the opportunity for the people to know how the Assembly spends its resources on development projects.
Mr Amoako-Dompreh said this would help motivate the people to pay their taxes and rates to the Assembly, because they have been given the opportunity to know how the Assembly spends its funds on development projects in their communities and to ask questions when they are not satisfy with any development.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after opening a workshop on social accountability organized by AMPA at Nsawam, Mr Amoako-Dompreh mentioned some of the development projects that would be constructed this year in the Municipality, to include a slaughter house at Avoga, near Nsawam, the construction of bathroom and toilet facilities for the people in the area.
Others include the extension of electricity to Bowkrom, Asanteekroa, Panpanso, Afumkrom, Akraman and others.
Mr Kwarfo-Mintah, Executive Director of AMPA said, the workshop was sponsored by the Netherlands Development Organization(SNV), AMPA resource, Nsawam/Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly and the Ministry of Local Government
The workshop was attended by 200 participants, including traditional rulers, assembly members, school children, opinion leaders, traders, workers from private institutions and public servants.
