The Management and Board of Sokode Senior High and Technical School (SOSTECH) has honoured its founding fathers at a durbar at the school.

Among the founders honoured were Mr. Samuel Semanu Frank Lawson-Doe, first headmaster, Mr. Vincent Kofi Dakey- Mensah, Samuel Billy Sunnu, Togbe Fia Koku III, Samuel Dzomeku, Richard Dzomeku, Dr. Emmanuel Adinkra and Mr. Francis Kofi Belley.

The event was to appreciate the immense sacrifices and selfless contributions individuals and groups made to the School since its establishment and growth some 23 years ago.

The founding fathers were presented with citations.

In a speech read on his behalf, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister appreciated the tireless efforts of the founding fathers to the socio-economic development of the region.

He expressed gratitude to the founders for their foresight in establishing what had become one of the best centres of education in the region.

Mr. Samuel Ayissah, Headmaster, SOSTECH said the school, which was started in 1996 with only 28 students, 17 boys and 11 girls, now had a student population of 1,230.

He said the school had witnessed an increase in student enrollment over the years but the classrooms were inadequate to accommodate them and also it lacks furniture.

Mr. Ayissah said the school was privileged to have an administration block, an18-unit classroom block, multipurpose dining hall and bungalows for teachers.

He said though the school was young it had achieved a lot in sports and academics, notably winning the national debate championship and taking part in the National Science and Math’s Quiz.

Mr. Ayissah appealed for support to help the school to construct a mechanized borehole to solve the perennial water shortage problem.
