Government on Monday, 31 July 2017 deployed a joint military and police officers to help fight the illegal small scale mining (galamsey) in the country.
The deployment of the military is a move to intensify the fight against the menace.
A deputy Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah revealed this in a tweet on Monday, 31 July 2017.
