Col. J. K. Forkuo, Director of the Army Training, has called on soldiers not to use the fitness they attain during military training for molesting innocent citizens or settle personal scores with family members.

He said they should rather use it to defend the country when duty called since the training is meant to develop their requisite qualities to enable them meet the tough challenging ahead.

Col. Forkuo was speaking at a keenly contested Inter-Company Novices Boxing Competition for Basic Infantry Training Course Two (BITC) recruits of the Army Recruit Training School (ARTS) at Shai Hills on Friday.

All 320 participants who would complete their training on April 27, this year took part in the competition with Recruit Dickson Amponsah emerging as thebest boxer and Recruit Marley Oko as the best loser.

The position of best loser is awarded to a recruit whose performance is impressive but unable to win a fight.

Col. Forkuo noted that the mission of arts in the military is to produce highly motivated and well trained soldiers for the professional Ghana Army, reminding them that physical fitness cannot be over emphasised at the ARTS being the basic army training institution.

In all, Alpha Company was first with 129 points, Charley Company placed second with 113 points and Bravo Company had 97 points to take the third position.
