Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, clashed with some Minority Caucus MPs during parliamentary proceedings on Friday, March 13, 2026.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on March 13, 2026, the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram addressed concerns earlier raised by Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, who alleged that he had objected to government business.

Addressing the concerns raised by Afenyo-Markin, Sam George debunked the claims, adding that he did not rise on his own accord but was recognised by the Speaker of Parliament to speak.

He further noted that the Minority Leader should pay closer attention to proceedings in the House.

“Let us be clear: I did not just rise on my own. The Speaker of the House asked a specific question, and Honourable Minority Leader, I am a member of this House and I have the utmost respect for leadership. Playing to the gallery with some of the comments you made is very unfortunate.

“I did not rise to object to government business. Sometimes, when you are in the chair, you should pay attention to the business of the House. I did not rise on my own; I rose in response to the question the Speaker asked. I caught his eye, and he gave me the floor, so I didn’t just rise on my own,” he said.

While speaking on the floor of Parliament, the Communications Minister also took a swipe at some Minority MPs, describing them as noise-makers.

According to him, some of the MPs are new to Parliament and have not paid attention during orientation, which is why they tend to make unnecessary noise.

“And so, if you are asking me to redraw, redraw what? Are you asking the Speaker to redraw his question if there was anybody in opposition? The Speaker asked that question, and I responded to it.

“For those of you who have just come to Parliament and have not even paid attention during orientation, you are the ones making the noise,” he added.
