Some residents within the Agbogbloshie environs have mentioned poor sanitation and choked drainages as a major challenge to health and development in the area.

Speaking on the My Community, My Voice show organized by Class FM, Assembly Member for the Amamomo Electoral Area, Musah Zihad, said the dumping of refuse into the Korle Lagoon has been a major contributor to flooding in the area.

“Our people are closer to the Korle Lagoon, and usually you complain that people dump (refuse) into the lagoon because there is nothing to dump their waste into. These are the challenges in this area. Government must therefore help us with development as they are doing for the other areas. We also need a clinic in our community.”

Most Committee Members, Chiefs, and residents all came out in their numbers to discuss current challenges in the Odododiodio constituency.

Robert Nii Ashe Klottey, who happens to be the Assembly Man for Korle Dodoo said “the issue of sanitation has always been a problem here because we have a lot of people coming round.”

A resident also called on authorities to advise the former assemblyman to leave office to the newly sworn in assemblyman to occupy the space so they can work effectively.

Gonja Chief of Old Fadama, who also resides in the area said

“Agblobloshie is one of the major shopping centres in the country, government has done little but the issue of road and sanitation has become a major challenge in the community, especially now that there is peace in this area.”

“We don’t see the politicians again after election till the next four years, we are appealing that they regularly be with us so we can share ideas in the area.”
