Son Charged With Murder Of Father

Accra, (Greater Accra) 17 Oct., An Accra circuit tribunal today committed Emmanuel Kwabena Opoku, a 26 year-old driver to stand trial at an Accra High court on October 29, this year for murder. Opoku charged with murdering his father, Opanin Mohammed Kojo Poku over 200 cedis has pleaded not guilty and is in custody. The case for the prosecution is that on August nine, 1991 at Haatso, near Kwabenya, Opanin Opoku gave the money to his son to prepare a meal but he complained that the money was not enough. The prosecution said this developed into an argument between them and the accused pushed his father, aged 76, down. According to the prosecution, Opanin Opoku became unconscious and when he was rushed to Military hospital, he was pronounced dead. The prosecution said the accused went into hiding but was later arrested by the police with the help of the people of the village
