Southern GOC visits Artillery Unit

Ho, Dec. 12, GNA - Brigadier-General Emmanuel Okyere, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces on Monday said the nation's forces had been transformed over the years into a socially responsive one. He said the Armed Forces' new posture was people oriented and crafted to ensure national and individual security for national development.

Brigadier-General Okyere said this when he paid a courtesy call on Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, at the offices of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) in Ho. Brigadier-General Okyere was on a day's visit to the 66 Artillery Regiment in Ho as part of a tour of regiments under his command after taking over command of the Southern sector a month ago. He said the military would continue to collaborate with other agencies to fight threats such as armed robbery to safeguard the security of the state.

Mr Dzamesi lauded the Artillery Regiment for helping to solve many security problems in the region, adding that Brigadier-General Okyere's visit would a be morale booster for the unit. He promised that the VRCC would "assist in whatever small way" to help the regiment perform its duties.
