…As “Ghana Palaver” Story Is Debunked In The Saga Of A Chronic Liar And Fraudster

The Spanish Embassy for the second time has denied the Spanish Government’s involvement with Ms. Gizelle Yazji, a fraudster who recently took a section of the Ghanaian media, obviously mouthpieces of the National Democratic Congress, on a wild goose chase of non-existent claims.

Speaking to the Weekend Crusading GUIDE yesterday in his office, the Ambassador of Spain, Jorge Montealegre, denied his government’s involvement with Ms. Yazji in anyway as claimed by Ghana Palaver, a propaganda mouthpiece of the NDC.

According to him, NO SPANISH GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL HAD MET GIZELLE YAZJI TO ASK HER NOT TO COME TO GHANA AS REPORTED BY GHANA PALAVER IN ITS ISSUE VOL.11 NO.88 TUESDAY, AUGUST 23 – THURSDAY, AUGUST 25.

Mr. Montealegre said Ms. Yazji had no substantial investment in Spain as was being claimed by Ghana Palaver. “If she has investments in somebody else’s name, that is fine, but in her name there is absolutely nothing like that”, the Ambassador underscored, stressing that he had checked the lists of foreign investors in Spain and had not found the name Gizelee Yazji.

He also noted that the Spanish Prime Minister had no Special Assistant who was detailed to put Gizelle “under intense pressure and prevailed upon (her) to cancel her planned trip to Ghana”.

Ghana Palaver had reported that prior to her intended visit to Ghana to testify against President Kufuor, Ms. Yazji had flown to “Madrid, Spain, where she has a house and substantial investment. And there, the problems began”.

The paper said: “ONCE SHE GOT TO SPAIN, AGAIN ACCORDING TO SOURCES CLOSE TO HER, SHE WAS SUMMONED TO THE OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRIME MINISTER OF SPAIN. THERE, SHE WAS PUT UNDER INTENSE PRESSURE AND PREVAILED UPON TO CANCEL HER PLANNED TRIP TO GHANA”.

According to the paper, “She (Gizelle) was left in no doubt that the Spanish Government’s intervention was at the request of the Ghana Government. She allegedly refused to budge and returned to London”.

Readers will recall that Ms. Yazji’s stories had been full of inconsistencies and palpable lies. In one week she cancelled her tip to Ghana twice.

As if it was only British Airways that flew to Ghana, Ms. Yazji, explaining her inability to come to Ghana as proposed, blamed the British Airways for canceling her trip to Ghana because her visa would expire three days after her arrival in Ghana – a responsibility that the British Airways could not bear.

According to her, the Ghanaian Ambassador to the UK was behind the cancellation of the trip. Added to that, her efforts to secure a visa extension in London at the Ghanaian embassy failed.

A CHECK WITH THE GHANAIAN EMBASSY IN THE UK PROVED THE EXCUSE TO BE A LIE. MR. ISAAC OSEI, THE GHANAIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER TO THE UK, ALSO DENIED EVER INSTRUCTING THE BRITISH AIRLINE TO CANCEL MS. YAZJI’S TRIP TO GHANA ON THE BASIS THAT HER VISA WOULD EXPIRE THREE DAYS AFTER HER ARRIVAL IN GHANA.

It was also found that that as at the time that she was go embark on her proposed journey to Ghana, the alleged twins that Yazji claimed she had with President Kufuor had not had any provisions in terms of traveling certificate etc. cover them.

Yazji had also not been able to provide the pro-NDC media with pictures of the twins she had at times claimed were non-existent.

Her lies and inconsistencies are so numerous that an observer remarked that “it is only a fool who will believe such a woman”.

Readers will recall that THE FIRST TIME THE SPANISH GOVERNMENT DENIED EVER HAVING ANYTHING TO DO WITH GIZELLE YAZJI WAS WHEN SHE CLAIMED THAT SHE HAD ACCESS TO A SPANISH LOAN OF TWO MILLION US DOLLARS WHICH SHE WANTED TO USE IN PURCHASING THE “HOTEL KUFUOR” BUILDING THAT WOULD BE TURNED INTO A CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FOR A SPANISH CHARITY.

In another development, credible sources close to the NDC top hierarchy have confided in this paper that Yazji had proved to be a great disappointment and embarrassment to them.

The sources said several attempts via telephone calls by these NDC gurus to contact Ms. Yazji after her failed arrival in Ghana last Thursday had proved futile. “Yazji is simply out of coverage area”, the sources quipped, adding “She has gone underground”.

NB: This story which was written by Sedi Bansah of the then ‘Weekend Crusading GUIDE newspaper and appeared on pages 1&4 of the August 26 – September 1, 2005 edition has been re-called because of the re-hashing of the same disproved claims and allegations by Gizelle Yajzi on Radio Gold and the station’s unwillingness to even ask her to respond to her previous failures to prove her case. It is to allow discerning Ghanaians to ask Gizelle provide the so-called proof she claims to have to indict Kufuor and to ensure that she stops insulting our collective intelligence.
