**PPP youth leader tells NPP, NDC* * * *The National Youth Leader of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Mr. Divine Nkrumah, has descended heavily on the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he terms ‘playing the unnecessary blame game’ over former President Mills’ demise.* “They should give us a break with all this hullaballoo about who did what and who didn’t do what for the president to pass away,” he remonstrated adding that “this was not the time for such political banter to take place.”
Speaking in an exclusive interview with an Accra based Radio station yesterday, Mr. Nkrumah, while stressing that Professor Mills was dead and gone, added that life ought to go on with Ghanaians looking into what the future had in stock for the country.
The PPP youth leader opined that, “instead of concentrating on the issues surrounding the demise of our late president, politicians and Ghanaians for that matter should rather learn lessons from Professor Mills’ humility, selflessness, patience, God-fearing nature among others.
The NDC and the NPP after the burial of Professor Mills have been on each other’s neck trading accusations on the cause of President Mills’ death.
While the NPP is suggesting a form of foul play and called for an inquisition into his death, the NDC has strongly kicked against such an inquest with Information Minister, Fritz Baffour, saying an investigation into the cause of death of the late President Mills is a private matter only for the family.
These accusations, according to the PPP Youth Leader, is unnecessary as the nation is confronted with a lot of issues such as illiteracy, unemployment, corruption among other bread and butter issues which should be ‘our focus for the country not to stagnate and move on.”
He however condemned the consistent practice of politicians leaving the country for medical attention at the slightest hint of health challenge which he believed has been the cause of the total neglect of the nation’s healthcare system. “Politicians who after coming into power travel outside the country to seek medical attention should be buried in those countries if they kick the bucket in the process,” he added.
He also made a clarion call for government to, as a matter of urgency, empower health institutions and provide better facilities which meet international standards, disclosing that countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa and others have invested heavily in their respective health sectors leading to a massive demand for their services.
The PPP youth leader referred that this practise could also be seen in the education sector where ‘some politicians fly their wards out of the country to educate them.’ He again noted that this has led to the neglect of the educational sector since those at the helm of affairs have their children in foreign schools.
To this end, he postulated that the best solution for the country was to go with the political party that has the best alternative — Progressive People’s Party whose flag-bearer, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has demonstrated a track record which can take Ghana to the ‘promise land.’ * *
