Speak Bagbin calls for holistic education

Speaker of Parliament, Alban S. K. Bagbin has called for the adoption of holistic education to empower students for the complexities of the modern world.

Speaking at the 25th-anniversary celebration of Queen of Peace Senior High School, he emphasized that education should nurture not just the intellect but also the emotional, physical, social, and spiritual aspects of students.

The Speaker praised the school’s efforts over the past 25 years, noting its commitment to producing well-rounded individuals who excel academically and morally.

He highlighted holistic education as a system that integrates critical thinking, empathy, creativity, and teamwork, preparing students to be leaders and problem-solvers.

Alban Bagbin further urged families, educators, and communities to collaborate in shaping an educational ecosystem that fosters intellectual and moral growth. He stressed the pivotal role of parents in shaping values and commended the school for demonstrating holistic values through its cadet displays, poetry recitals, and alumni achievements.

In his call to action, the Speaker encouraged teachers to create nurturing environments, students to take ownership of their learning, and communities to support initiatives that empower the next generation. “Holistic education is a continuous process that requires all stakeholders to play their part,” he concluded.
