Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho on Thursday, November 20, descended heavily on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for the frequent power outages suffered in the House during deliberations on the 2015 budget.
Speaker Adjaho suspended proceedings for 30 minutes as the lights went out in the main chamber when he got in.
But the outages that followed angered the former Member of Parliament for Akatsi South Constituency, forcing him to direct an investigation into the incident.
The investigation committee made up of some Members has been given up to Tuesday to present a report to the House.
According to Speaker Adjaho, the generating plant of Parliament was used during the delivery of the 2015 budget statement on Wednesday by the Finance Minister.
As a result, there was pressure on the plant, he said.
The Speaker said anyone found culpable for the intermittent power supply after the investigation will be severely dealt with, describing the situation as unacceptable.
